The Business
TeleGrocer offers three (3) out-of-store capabilities to Canada's largest supermarket chains. The capabilities are:
- Online Grocery Shopping and Delivery - targeting the online consumer.
- Telephone Ordering and Delivery - targeting seniors and others without a computer.
- Professional In-store Delivery Service - for the supermarket's in-store customers.
Our operating structure is based on a franchise network where we have designed and implemented a micro-business opportunity for inexperience entrepreneurs who would like to go into business for themselves. These franchisees are responsible for overseeing the shopping and delivery of the grocery orders in their territory. Each territory contains between 30,000 to 50,000 households.
This is not a job but a business opportunity. You will be involved in building your business and operating it efficiently thereby expanding your income potential exponentially. Of course we will be there every step of the way to provide you with all the management training, marketing, operation and technical support that you will need.

Training

Marketing and Advertisement Programs

CUSTOM COMPUTER SOFTWARE
Customer Computer Software
As the Franchisor, NTSI is responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the online technologies that are used by the consumer to place their grocery orders with TeleGrocer. This includes both the TeleGrocer main web site www.telegrocer.com and the e-commerce site located at http://shop.telegrocer.com.
In addition to these public sites, NTSI will maintain its internal Intranet utilized by each franchisee to process grocery orders received online. This internal Intranet comes complete with technologies that allows the franchisees to:
Consumer Related Technologies
- Download all grocery orders for their franchise zones
- Print related picking list for these orders.
- Update the shopping report and print invoices to accompany each grocery order.
- Update local prices for each grocery item available to the consumer.
Back-office Related Technologies
- Reports that summarizes sales data such as
- Gross Service Revenues
- Total Taxes Collected
- Credit Refunds
- Total Groceries Shopped
- Total Processing Fees (Shopping and Delivery Payroll)
- Prepare payroll to compensate shopping and delivery personnel
- Create new shopping delivery personnel profiles to allow new order processing personnel to access the internal Intranet.
- Technology for mapping the locations of each grocery item in the local supermarket to facilitate quick and easy order shopping.
- Delivery logistics technology that allows the franchisee to control the number and distribution of the grocery orders across operating days and times.
In addition to the Internet based technologies above, Franchisees who pay in full for their franchise will be outfitted with a complete computer system that includes a computer with modem, 15-inch monitor and a printer. Preinstalled on each computer is a copy of the Microsoft Windows operating system, a pre-configured small business accounting package and instant message software to connect all franchisees into a virtual chatroom to facilitate quick and low cost exchange of information between each other and TeleGrocer's head-office.

SUPPORT
Home Office Support
In addition to the initial set-up and training, NTSI operates a centralized customer care center through which all the online customers' feedback are handled. Support is also provided for all TeleGrocer technology and equipment. Regular software upgrades of TeleGrocer's technologies listed above are automatically distributed to all franchisees.
Further, since we assume you have no previous business ownership experience or knowledge of this industry, we will be there every step of the way to help you build your new business.
Our field representatives will make periodic visits to your location to assist you to troubleshoot any business challenges or opportunities that may present themselves. You will also be a part of our internal Intranet where you will have access to our knowledge base and chatroom where you will be able to interact with head-office staff and other franchisees alike.

Financing
Despite what you might have read in the media, it won't cost you an unreasonably large amount of cash to get into the online grocery business. With a TeleGrocer franchise, your e-business doesn't require a big investment.

Available Locations
Currently, TeleGrocer franchising business opportunities are only available in Ontario and surrounding areas. Each franchisee will operate in an exclusive franchise zone of approximately 30,000 dwellings or a population count of 90,000. Most of these will be in urban centers in or close to major Canadian metropolitan centers. We are currently looking for franchisees for the locations below.

THE PROCESS
Steps Taken
The franchise application process is a 6-step process that can take up to 3 months to complete. Each step is detailed below.

Step 2
We will review your mailed in information sheet to check your qualifications for suitability. If it is determined that you satisfy our franchisee criteria we will contact you by telephone.
Step 3
We will conduct an interview via the telephone to further determine your capacity to run a TeleGrocer franchise, factors such as family support, background, drive and financial capabilities will de assessed.
Step 4
For Candidates passing through Step 3 and requiring financing. An application for financing will be executed and reviewed.
Step 5
Candidates who have demonstrated the ability to secure adequate financing will be given the TeleGrocer Franchise Agreement to take to their legal consul for review. A fully refundable deposit of $2,000 is required before the TeleGrocer Franchise Agreement is released. The deposit will be refunded upon the agreement's signing and/or return.
Step 6
New franchisees will enter TeleGrocer's Intensive 7-day training program at our head-office in Ottawa. Once franchisees have completed their training they are then ready to start operating their TeleGrocer franchise. We will also have someone on-hand during your first week of operation to assist with the transition. <TOP>
